RAF used Lewis aviation goggles, boxed
By D Lewis Ltd. of Great Portland Street., London. Model 209 aviation goggles fitted with triplex lenses. Very similar in appearance to the official issue RAF MK.II goggles with pear-shaped white metal frames, woven silk backing with velvet and rubber face cushions. Simple elastic strap, adjustable via friction clasps. Fitted with clear 'Triplex' glass lenses. Condition is very good '+' to excellent bar light storage wear and surface corrosion of strap components. The lenses have very light delamination marks and whilst the rubber facepads remain supple there is a little hardening. With the original card box (lid a bit tatty) having a D Lewis label on the top. Typical of the goggles worn during the interwar period. Stock code G21955.
