RAF Mk.II flying goggles

RAF Mk.II flying goggles

Code: G17254

SOLD

Goggles, Flying Lightweight.  Stores reference 22c/44.  More commonly known as the Mk.II.  These were technically an interwar design but still in use well into the early years of WW2.  Blued brass frames backed with fur trimmed knitted brown silk.  Laminated clear glass lenses and a distinctive strap having two sprung sections joined via a chamois backed leather piece.  The frame is very good but the blued finish is worn in places.  Both lenses have some delamination marks and the left (as worn) is cracked.  The knitted silk backing is a little soiled/faded, there are a few small holes in the outer layer as shown but the edge trim is complete.  The leather covered strap springs are undamaged and the leather strap sections are equally good.  Both adjuster slides have light surface corrosion.  A good used pair of these rare goggles.  Not to be confused with the many variants of MT driver goggles on the market.  Stock code G17254.
