Luxor model '9'. By E.B. Meyrowitz (EBM), c1930s. Nickel-plated vented frames with an adjustable nose bridge. Fitted with convex clear perspex lenses and pink/orange rubber cushions. These were the finest quality goggles of the day and the preferred choice of many pilots at the beginning of WW2 and into the Battle of Britain. The frames are in good condition with relatively minor marks and oxidization. Marked 'E.B. Meyrowitz' on both eyepieces and 'Made in France' on the central adjustable nosepiece. Both lenses have surface scratches, the left has a chip at the edge with some delamination but they display well. The rubber cushions appear to be near complete and have good overall shape. While they have some cracks/crazing and have stiffened up they do retain a little flexibility. Each cushion has a clear raised 'Luxor' mark in the moulding. The original strap is stretched and has lost elasticity. Reasonably good goggles let down by the strap. Extremely rare. Stock code G25057.
