RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st pattern internally wired

RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st pattern internally wired

Code: H27464

SOLD

Stores reference 22c/879, size 3.  The leather is in very good '+' / excellent overall condition, very supple with minor scuffing and surface wear only.  The goggle straps are equally good and the press studs retain virtually all of their original coatings.  Both rubber receiver carriers have stiffened, the right side being a little mishaped.  Both are probably too rigid to allow removal of the receivers (not that there is any need to do so).  The lining is in very good undamaged condition and reasonably clean.  Wired with an excellent mid tan coloured instrument cord (loom, connector type 2091, stores reference 10H/4887), type 32 receivers, stores reference 10A/13466, and early brown cased type 119 bell jackplug, stores reference 10H/10991.  The chinstrap is faded, a little soiled and lacks elasticity.  A very good example of the rarer first pattern early internally wired C-type of definite wartime manufacture.  Stock code H27464.
