RAF Form 2520A.  Airman's Service & Release book.  Named to Warrant Officer George Frank Farmer RAFVR, 118789, who served as a wireless operator between September 1940 and October 1945.  Born in Tonbridge Wells on 10th December 1912, he served with 51 Squadron based at Snaith in Yorkshire.  On the evening of 27th January 1943 he and his fellow crew members took off at 1756hrs in Halifax II DT705, code MH-S, bound for Dusseldorf.  Their bomber was shot down by nightfighters and crashed at 2015hrs at Mill (Noord Brabant), 11km from Uden, Holland.  Four of the crew were killed in the crash but Farmer and two others ended up as prisoners of war.  George Frank Farmer, POW No 27472 was held at Stalag VIIIB, a large German camp located near the small town of Lamsdorf (now called Lambinowice) in Poland.  The camp was renumbered Stalag 344 at the end of 1943.  Farmer was released in April 1945 and demobbed on 6th January 1946.  Comes with three period German banknotes.  All items are worn/creased but legible.  Stock code P15896.
