USN H-4 flying helmet by General Textiles Mills Inc. (Gentex).  Size medium.  The H-4 is manufactured with an epoxy resin reinforced rigid shell featuring distinctive ridged 'veins' radiating from the crown. It has an internal webbing harness with a leather headband for additional comfort. This example is finished in the original gold paint synonymous with US Naval helmets of the 1950s and early 1960s and features a large USN pilot wing decal over the forehead. Fitted with an MT-521A boom microphone and external press studs to attach a pair of 1-F-4B goggles and chin strap (absent).   The shell has scratches, marks, and paint loss but is in sound condition.  The lining is a little soiled and the leather band shows rubbing and wear.  Whilst the microphone is wired there is no plug on the loom.  These helmets were worn with a cloth inner helmet and goggles - currently available separately. A very nice display piece in quite good overall condition. Stock code H25063.
