An interesting desk model with a good period solid brass model of the Lockheed P-38 'Lightning' fighter aircraft and lighter. Developed for the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38 had distinctive twin booms and a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. Approximately 21.5cm wingspan and fitted with perspex propellors. The model is mounted on an inert brass shell casing over a circular marble base. A black painted alloy lighter is also fitted to the base. This is engraved with the wording 'Souvenir of Stuttgart, U.S.1943'. Show use and wear. Quite heavy. Stock code M24215A-114.
