Used by photo-reconnaissance staff to view aerial photographs for interpretation purposes. The use of these helped to acertain accuracy of bombing, pinpointing of targets and so on. The viewer is is in black painted roughly cast white metal inset with twin lenses. Folding wire legs lock into position for use and fold flat for storage. Marked 'Property Airforces U.S. Army. The lenses are good but the viewer has lost a lot of the paint finish - easily refinished if desired. Comes with the original leather storage pouch also clearly marked with AAF details. Super display piece and considerably rarer than the RAF type. Stock code M18990.
