USAAF, Suit, Pneumatic, Anti-G, Type G-2. Manufactured by The Berger Brothers Co. Size small long. Standardised in June 1944 these suits were manufactured from a ventilated 'aertex' type cloth with full length zips from ankle to waist on the front of each leg, adjustable lacing on the inside of each leg and single pressure system comprised of 5 bladders (rubber air bags) - 2 on the legs, 2 on the thighs and 1 on the abdomen housed inside a wide internal belt. Each bladder is linked via a series of rubber tubes and inflated automatically when the wearer was subjected to forces of 2.5G or more during flight manoeuvres that might otherwise cause greyouts or blackouts. Integral braces made the suit easier and more comfortable to wear. Bar one very small hole on the back of the left leg the cloth is in very good clean condition. All of the main brass Talon zips are in good original condition and the rubber air tubes remain good and flexible. The inner abdomen belt looks good but there is minor damage at the bottom making it difficult to engage. Complete with braces and manufacturer's label but the suit's air connection tube is missing. Just 3500 G-2 suits were procured for use by the 8th & 9th AAF and saw combat over Europe but they proved very unpopular - the suit was replaced by the G-3 by August 1944. This makes the G-2 one of the rarest pieces of AAF flying kit to find. Don't miss this one. Stock code S29469
