By Aero Leather Clothing Co. Size 38R. Physically measures around 42"chest & 32" waist externally so 38R is probably accurate. 1944 contract number. Early example without the small oxygen mask clip tab and wiring loom retaining strap. The olive drab material is generally in very good clean condition. There is fraying/wear holes at the ends of the sleeves where the cotton meets the cuffs (see photos). These could probably be darned or carefully patched if desired. Original brass Conmar zip complete with leather puller tag. The knitted wristlets have some moth damage - the right being the worst. The waistband also has some moth damage and holes but isn't too bad. The alpaca pile lining is very good bar some wear around the neck/collar area. The 'fur' collar itself is in very good overall condition complete with rear strap/flap. The jacket is labelled and also has a fading AAF colour decal and wording 'Army Air Forces' to the left shoulder. A further decal (white) can be found in the lining. These jackets are getting very rare to find now and this is a good solid example. Reputed to have belonged to Major Herbert Rogers DFC who flew with the 9th AAF, 388FS of the 365FG on P-47 Thunderbolts flying out of France & Germany. The name 'Rogers' is visible within the lining and the previous owner did have Roger's A-2 jacket but we cannot prove original ownership. Stock code J20583.
