By the American Optical Co. Black rubber facemask with a rigid plastic frame at the front housing circular lenses. Each lens is actually comprised of two separate lenses, one of which can be rotated over the other using a centrally mounted knob. The effect of this rotation was to achieve differing degrees of density from clear through a range of pinks/reds and enabled the wearer to track targets in the vicinity of and across the face of the sun. The goggles are also fitted with a red plastic Polaroid 'flip-down' visor for observing tracer bullets under various conditions of sunlight and brightness. Used primarily by airgunners. This pair is in excellent, probably unissued condition. Complete with the storage tin of issue plus instruction leaflet and two spare red plastic visors. The tin shows minor storage wear and corrosion. Stock code G20168.
