Imperial Japanese Navy type 3 flying helmet throat microphone

Imperial Japanese Navy type 3 flying helmet throat microphone

Code: H24165

SOLD

Manufactured by the Toyo Telecommunication Equipment Company Ltd (TTK), this throatmicrophone was issued as a separate item compatable with the type 3 radio system and internally wired type 3 flying helmet.  It is comprised of two laryngophones with bakelite covers set within leather pockets on a chamois backed leather strap worn around the neck and fastened using a single pronged buckle.  A 10"/26cm wiring loom  terninates in a metal 3-pin plug.  The leather is in good condition  but the buckle has surface corrosion and the rubber sheathing that would have covered the loom is now absent revealing the wiring beneath.  This is in very good flexible condition.  Remnants of the rubber sheathing can be seen where the plug is attached and on the plug casing.  An extremely rare piece of equipment.  Very seldom seen and the only example we have had in 27 years! Ideal to go with the type 3 helmet also currently on offer.  Note the final photograph shows the type 3 helmet and throatmicrophone togther but this sale is for the throatmicrophone alone. Stock code H24165.
