Imperial Japanese Navy 1942 style flying helmet. This pattern saw service right through WW2. Constructed from a lightweight mid brown goatskin leather with oval leather earflaps, soft 'fold-back' leather peak with securing stud, single goggle strap and chinstrap secured via a double pronged buckle. The leather is in very good clean condition. The goggle strap and peak are also very good. Wear to the chinstrap as shown. A small green canvas patch is sewn to the rear of the helmet - this is where the owner would have written his name but this has not been done. The helmet is lined throughout in a fine velvet type material, all in lovely clean condition with clear linen labels marked with Japanese Kanji. This helmet was manufactured by Yaguchi Industrial Co. Ltd. and issued by Dia Ichi Garments Navy Stores. 1945 dated. A very good example. Stock code H29474.
