LkpN101 flying helmet. Manufactured by Luftwahrtgeratwerke Hakenfelde G.m.b.H., Berlin (who used the code 'h.d.c.' on their kit). The famous 'net-top' helmet proved popular with Luftwaffe aircrews as it was designed for comfort without the restriction of a chinstrap. This variant has attachment points for 3-strap oxygen masks. It has mid brown leather earcups with mid tan webbing banding and dark chocolate coloured 'mesh'. All leather parts are very good and the netting/mesh is excellent bar one small hole as shown. There is surface corrosion on the metal parts but these don't really detract and would probably clean up with a little effort. The avionics are comprised of a short 1.2m rubber insulated 'pig-tail' loom, oval Mi4b magnetic throat microphones and four-pole break coupling/plug, Fl27560. Both receivers and plastic 'soundboards' are present though cracked. The shearling lining and chamois inside the helmet are good, complete/reasonably clean. Labelled. A very good '+' display helmet.
