RAF B-type Flying Helmet
Unlabelled but appears to be a good size. Certainly a '3', possibly a '4'. The overall appearance is very good to excellent. The leather is fully supple with excellent original finish on the main parts of the helmet. The hand stitched zipped earpieces are very good although the right side has minor surface rubbing and the bottom section of the left side has become partially unstitched - a very simple repair. Both have quite clear reference markings. The zips on both are in good working order and one retains the original leather puller tag. Both bakelite receiver carriers are still in position and the earpieces contain a slightly crusty but reasonable pair of original RAF / Air Ministry sponge cushions. Both the chinstrap and rearstraps are excellent, the former c/w the metal end tip. Some wear to the front Bennett buckle but both retain their leather coverings. The chamois lining is undamaged and quite clean. It has a small A.I.D mark but the label has been removed as per Air Ministry orders. Judging by the label stitch marks this would appear to have been manufactured by Frank Bryan Ltd. Sold unwired but we can supply wiring, receivers and microphones at extra cost if required. Overall this is a very good '+' to excellent used helmet. Stock code H20235.
