RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st pattern internally wired

RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st pattern internally wired

Code: H26149

SOLD

Stores reference 22c/879, size 3.  The leather is in very good overall condition,  supple but with minor scuffing and a couple of very small holes on the forehead panel as shown in the photographs.  Very faintly embossed Air Ministry and reference code marks.  The goggle straps are good and the press studs retain most of their original coatings.   Both rubber receiver carriers have stiffened, both are probably too rigid to allow removal of the receivers.  Wired with a light tan coloured instrument cord (loom, connector type 2091, stores reference 10H/4887), type 32 receivers and black cased type 119 bell jackplug, stores reference 10H/10991.  The chinstrap is stretched/soiled and lacks elasticity and the lining has average soiling.  A good to good '+' example of the rarer first pattern early internally wired C-type of definite wartime manufacture.  Named to 'F/S Lewis'.  Stock code H26149.
