RAF C-type flying helmet, early pattern

RAF C-type flying helmet, early pattern

Code: H22834

SOLD

Stores reference 22c/452.  Size 4.  The leather is in very good overall condition with minor surface scuffing and marks.  Stamped A Crown M and reference codes.  This early example has only 2 press studs fitted, making it suitable for an E-type mask.  Another early feature is the 'one-up one-down' goggle strap layout.  All straps are good but the press studs have lost much of their original coating.  Excellent Bennett buckle and chinstrap complete with metal end tip.  The rubber receiver carriers are excellent/fully flexible.  A lovely clean chamois lining with just one small hole at the nape of the neck.  Sold unwired.  A really good example of this rare early version of the C-type in the largest size produced.  Stock code H22834.
