Stores reference 15A/144. Type D, Mk.1. A standard 'Observer' harness for use with clip on chest-type parachute packs. It is of genuine RAF/British manufacture rather than the more commonly found Canadian version and has the fully rounded quick release box (QRB). Cream/white webbing with a central black fleck. With Irvin Air Chute Ltd. linen label and serial number plus additional 'Irvin' label on the right riser strap. The webbing is in good undamaged condition but a little soiled through normal use. The QRB and other metalwork are also good but note that the left sprung connector hook guide has been re-riveted to the harness - see photograph. The only clue to this is the slightly different size of rivet used. Fitted with a retention loop at the back for securing the wearer to an airframe and a very good backpad. The harness will require adjustment at the shoulders to suit the wearer. A very good used example of these increasingly hard to source harnesses. Stock code S24255.
