This is an 'Observer' harness for use with clip on chest-type parachute packs. Cream/white webbing with a central red/blue fleck. It has slightly unusual webbing where the sprung hooks are fitted - less rigid than most but clearly original. The quick release (QR) box, an American made type B-2A with an asymmetrical front plate, is clearly a more modern replacement. The webbing is in good condition but does have marks, some corrosion stains and minor fraying etc. The large sprung hooks are quite dirty and the other metalwork has some pitting and corrosion. There are no visible reference marks or labels on the harness. The backpad is a modern reproduction in 'as new' condition. Changing the QR box for a wartime pattern would imporove the look significantly. A bit 'tired' but still makes a great display piece. All parachute equipment is increasingly difficult to find now.
