RAF Form 441.  Approximately 28 x 43.5cm (opened out).  Documents relating to a Bomber Command raid to the I.G. Farben chemical works at Ludwigshafen, Germany, by a Halifax crew of 158 Squadron on 2nd January 1945.  It names the aircraft captain Flight Lieutenant William McLennan (DFC, 158314), Navigator, Pilot Officer Eric Geoffrey Huband (DFC, 184967), gives the weather forecast and details the flight from take off at 1515hrs, sighting of the target and opening of bomb doors at 1841hrs, bombs being dropped at 1849hrs, returning to base at 2140hrs.  Numerous entries and checks are recorded throughout.  Comes with the section of plotting map used on the raid.  The route to and from the target has been marked in pencil with times recorded at various points.  This raid was comprised of 389 aircraft of 4, 6 & 8 Groups.  Bombing was recorded as accurate with more than 5,000 HE and 10,000 incendiaries being dropped causing damage to the factories and railway installations in the area.  One aircraft crashed in France on the return journey from the target.  Scarce original documents that were actually completed on the bombing raid.  Stock code P23595.
