Stores reference 22c/450, size 2 (67/8 - 7).  This presents as a scarce early pattern 'zip-eared' type C flying helmet but all may not be as it seems.  The leather is generally in very good condition - clean and supple.  There is minor scuffing and wear with a few nicks and loss of chroming at the crown.  Fitted with 4 goggle straps in good condition but the original press stud coatings are largely absent.  Complete with a good chinstrap and Bennett buckle (strap needs a couple of stitches to secure), the former complete with metal end tip.  Close inspection of the zip-ear pieces suggests that they are excellent reproductions with working zips c/w leather pull tags.  The original rubber receiver carriers are in place with the familiar 'Gosport' tube attachments.  The helmet's chamois lining has only light even soiling and is undamaged but I believe the 'donut' ear pads have been changed and although genuine, are not original to this helmet.  Reasonably clear Air Mininstry stamp on the outer side of the chintab.  Early models of this helmet were originally manufactured as early pattern type-C's and officially modified for use by the FAA.  This necessitated the removal of the original rubber receiver carriers and fitting of 'zipped' earpieces.  Sold unwired and without receivers.  A good '+' / very good helmet but not an entirely original example of this rare helmet variant.  Stock code H20250.
