RAF B-type flying helmet

RAF B-type flying helmet

Code: H15645

SOLD

By Frank Bryan Ltd. Size 2 (67/8 - 7).  1941 dated.  The overall appearance is reasonable.  The leather is supple but has some cracking down the central panel and at the rear.  The fitted zipped earpieces are in quite good condition with working original zips although these have soft verdigris deposits as do other metal components.  This can be removed quite easily with care.  No receiver carriers inside the earpieces but fitted with a rather squashed pair of RCAF foam rubber cushions.  The chinstrap lacks the metal end piece and the Bennett buckle has lost its leather covering. The backstrap has been cut slightly short but the rear Bennett buckle retains some leather. The chamois lining is complete but very dirty and the donuts have been removed. 1941 dated maker's label sewn in at the crown.  Unwired.  Wiring, receivers, microphones and jackplugs can be supplied at extra cost if required.   Not without problems but it does display quite well.  Priced accordingly.  Stock code H15645.
