RAF B-type flying helmet

RAF B-type flying helmet

Code: H15414

SOLD

Stores reference 22c/65.  Unknown maker.  Size 3 (71/8 - 73/8).  The overall appearance is good '+".  The leather is supple, quite clean and has much of the original chromed finish.  It is stamped with Air Ministry King's crown marks and reference code below the left earpiece.  The fitted zipped earpieces are in good condition with faintly embossed Air Mnistry marks.   Both original zips work although these are quite stiff and there is a small tear in the webbing tape on the left zip.  Care is needed to prevent this increasing in size and it might be prudent to patch/strengthen the split with some material at the rear.  Fitted with rubber receiver carriers inside.  The chinstrap retains the metal end piece and the Bennett buckle has most of its leather covering. The backstrap is good and the rear Bennett buckle retains some leather. The chamois lining is complete but quite soiled. There is an Air Ministry label sewn in at the crown.  Unwired.  Wiring, receivers, microphones and jackplugs can be supplied at extra cost if required.    Please note that the helmet is photographed with rubber cushions fitted inside the earpieces but these are not included in the sale. A good used example.   Stock code H15414.
