RAF C-type Flying Helmet - 1st Late Pattern
Stores Ref. 22c/878, Size 2 (indistinct marks so this is approximate). The leather is generally in very good supple condition although there are a few small areas of surface abrasion - notably where the loom exits the helmet at the back and in places along the lower edge seam of the helmet. . All straps are good with almost no loss to the press stud coatings. The lining is really quite clean. The rubber receiver carriers are both complete and undamaged but have stiffened a little. The chinstrap retains some colour and elasticity but has been modified in that one section has been stitched to another such that it is no longer adjustable. Fully wired with a very thick chocolate coloured loom, matched receivers and early brown cased bell jackplug. This is the early pattern internally wired C-type of definite wartime manufacture. A very good used example. Stock code H17756.
