RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st pattern internally wired

Code: H24666

SOLD

Stores reference 22c/878, size 2 (67/8 - 7).  The leather is in good '+' condition, very supple but has minor scuffing and abrasion.  Embossed War Department broad arrow and reference code.  The goggle straps are good and the press studs retain most of their original coatings.  The lining has less than average soiling but the donuts have been cut and have no kapok filling.  It would be quite simple to replace these.  Both rubber receiver carriers are a little misshaped with some cracking.  The right one also has some loss to the rim but they but remain flexible enough to fit/remove receivers.  The chinstrap is stretched/soiled and a little ragged but does retain some elasticity.  A reasonable example of the rarer first pattern early internally wired C-type of definite wartime manufacture.  Sold unwired.  Stock code H24666.
