RAF type H oxygen mask, WW2 dated

RAF type H oxygen mask, WW2 dated

Code: O18325

SOLD

Size medium.  Dated 1-45 (1st quarter of 1945).  Extremely rare wartime dated example of this otherwise relatively common mask.  The rubber facepiece retains quite good overall shape although the sides and lower edge are curling inwards a little.  The rubber is quite grubby but remains very pliable with some surface 'crazing' when flexed.  There is little cracking aside from on the harness retaining lugs and around the expiratory valve as shown in the photographs.  The pearl grey suede lining is complete but somewhat rubbed/soiled.  The mask is fitted with a type 57 microphone assembly with a pink and white flecked light tan coloured loom and the correct large 2-pin socket, type 614, 10H/18196.  The harness is a bit soiled/faded and lacks elastication.  These late war H-masks are very difficult to obtain in any condition and are considerably rarer than the G-type mask.  Examples that do turn up they are invariably 3-45 dated, 2-45 if you are lucky.  To get a 1-45 dated mask is particularly unusual.  This one would certainly benefit from careful cleaning but is in quite good used overall condition.   Stock code H18325.
