RAF Wiring Loom c/w Type 20 Microphone
External flying helmet wiring loom. Stores ref. 10H/10353. Type Q loom wired to a type 20 microphone (type 21 when 'mounted' as here) ready for fitting to a type D oxygen mask. The type 20, stores ref. 10A/11994 has a black painted alloy casing and is often referred to as the "1941" pattern although actually introduced in October 1940. It has minor paint chipping/rubbing on exposed edges. Air Ministry and King's crown markings and unusually, a paint stamped 1942 date. Retains the original rubber "band" around the microphone on the reverse although this is hardened. The pale tan coloured loom is soiled and has some fairly minor fraying plus what appears to be a period repair (see photos 7 & 8). Further fraying is evident where the loom branched for the receivers (see photo 9). The loom is fitted with an early brown cased bell jackplug, stores ref. 10H/10991. Stock code O13126.
