Stores reference 6E/50. White metal cased pocket watch approximately 5cm in diameter. White dial with Arabic numerals and black painted hands and subsidiary seconds dial. Hinged snap-backed case with Air Ministry markings '6E/50' and serial number '5271'. The dial is in fair condition with some hairline cracks and slight lifting close to the number '5', the case has normal wear and tear, the perspex crystal is good but may be a replacement. Both the winder knob and bow (loop) are good. The unsigned movement is in good working order and keeps good time when test run for 24 hour periods on a flat surface. It should be noted though that the minute hand is a relatively loose fit and, if the watch is jarred, can change angle slightly such that it then snags on the 'lifted' area on the dial (near the number '5'). Sharper jarring can result in the hand coming adrift completely but it is simple to refit. In view of this we are selling the watch for spares or repairs, hence the lower price. Pocket watches like these were preferred by navigators who found it easier to place the watch on their maps and charts whilst working. Stock code C26150.
