Approximately 32 x 27cm. Operation Oyster, 6th December 1942. Large format target photograph taken half an hour after the special attack by all operational day bomber squadrons within 2 Group on the Philips radio and valve factories. The raid, comprised of 93 aircraft including Venturas, Bostons and Mosquitoes flying at low level, was supported by a diversion raid on Lille and indirect fighter support. The resulting damage meant that full production wasn't restored until 6 months later. Unfortunately casulties were high with the loss of 14 aircraft on the raid (15% of those involved) and many others being damaged. The image clearly shows burning buildings and rising plumes of smoke. Printed on Air Ministry photographic paper and annotated in pencil to the rear. Stock code P27254.
