Photograph album that belonged to LAC H.G. Helsby who served at RAF Station Takoradi in West Africa during WW2. Stiff rexine board covers with split ring binding. Embroidered felt R.A.F. Takoradi blazer badge glued to front. Approximately 50 pages containing around 170 photos carefully inserted (not glued). Most are 8.5 x 6cm (3.25 x 2.5") but there are a few larger ones (5 x 8"). Many show views of the local area and natives, wildlife etc. There are also quite a few of Helsby and his friends and about eight that feature aircraft including Sunderland flying boats, Dakotas and Wellington etc. All have been captioned and a couple mention VE and VJ day parades. There is also a VE day celebration programme inserted on one page. The album appears to have only one small beach photograph missing, otherwise it is complete/full. We also have Helsby's slouch hat available separately (see here) There is a photograph of Helsby wearing the hat within the album. An interesting item worthy of some research. Stock code P21120.
