Stores reference 1B/4665. Large machete with single locking folding blade. Black composite/plastic grips with a metal loop on the end through which a leather wrist thong could be attached. Overall size is approximately 39.5cm (opened) and 28cm when closed. There is some pitting and wear to the metalwork and the blade is relatively blunt towards the end. Blade guard absent (a removeable metal cover). Very faint War department broad arrow mark. Also stamped '4'. These knives were issued as part of the survival kit with the Lightweight Flying Overall better known as the 'Beadon' Flying Suit, and carried in the lower pocket on the left leg. Not to be confused with the very similar USAAF machette. Stock code S25131.
