RAF K-Dinghy Deflation Pump

RAF K-Dinghy Deflation Pump

Code: S20118

SOLD

Pump, Dinghy, Deflation.  Stores reference 27C/2222.  Cylindrical metal pump with 'T' shaped  handle.  Approximately  43cm in length (barrel length 38cm) x 5.5cm diameter. These are always painted pink with white Air Ministry and reference marks.  All dinghies had to undergo regular checks and full inspections once a month to coincide with the airman's parachute safety checks. The bouyancy tube was inflated with air and connected to a manometer to check the pressure retension. Prior to repacking it was vital to remove all trace of air from the chamber in order to prevent the possibility of expansion and damage at altitude.  This was achieved with the deflation pump which also had the added advantage of making the dinghy easier to pack. This is still true today.  If you have a K-type dinghy this tool will make it much easier to fit into the relevent pack.  Condition is excellent bar some paint chipping.  A small rubber tube will be required if the buyer intends using this.  The pump has clear marks and has both original reference number and later re-issue numbers marked.  Stock code S20118.
