RAF / SOE escape & evasion saw

RAF / SOE escape & evasion saw

Code: S-GIG

SOLD

Gigli saw comprised of a flexible length of minutely serrated/barbed wire with simple split ring 'handles' at each end.  Originally invented for amputation use in surgery, MI9's Clayton Hutton realised the potential of these for survival and escape and evasion purposes.  Easily hidden they could be used for sawing trees/wood to make shelters/firewood and with care it was posibble to cut through some metals.  Similar saws (minus the handles) were sometimes hidden inside the laces of 1943 pattern flying boots.  No markings but this came to us with other RAF survival kit some years ago.  Very good condition.  Stock code S-GIG.
