By U.W.W. Co. Birmingham. Attractive gauge comprising a base marked with sizes, a fixed upright to one end and a sliding end piece at the other. When the new recruits were being kitted out at the quartermaster's store they would put their feet onto this gauge in order to select the correct size of flying boot, shoe or whatever. Nicely made in boxwood with brass pinned joints and solid brass 'slider'. Marked with British War Department braod arrow.
Shows use and wear but in good overall condition. That said, the measurements do not seem to correspond too accurately to some boots I have tried! Boots shown for illustrative purposes only and not included in the sale. Stock code M16687.
