RAF 1932 pattern Mae West - reproduction

RAF 1932 pattern Mae West - reproduction

Code: MW22678

SOLD

Reproduction 1932 pattern Mae West.  This example was made by Steve Silburn whose copies are widely regarded as the best available, being accurate in pattern and construction using carefully chosen fabrics, individually cast buckles, printed labels and zips.  The user instructions are in the correct font and sized/spaced as per originals.  This one is from his earlier production runs when he used original D-o-T zips that he overstamped with 'A.M.' markings.  Examples of his Mae Wests can be seen in the RAF museum at Hendon and the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.   Condition is excellent, it has been displayed but is essentially 'as new'.  These reproductions are quite difficult to find as Steve rarely produces them now.  This example has an original St. Christopher attached to the zip slider, the reverse of which is engraved  'I am a Catholic, in case of accident please contact a priest'.  If you are in the market for a 1932 pattern Mae West but cannot find, afford or justify the cost of an original this is most definitely your best bet.  Stock code MW22678.
