RAF 1940 pattern flying boots

RAF 1940 pattern flying boots

Code: B22669

SOLD

Stores reference  22c/438/9.  Size 8/9.  The brown suede uppers are a bit dirty and rubbed but generally in good condition.  There is a seam split on the right boot (see photograph).  The rubber “galosh” section is perishing/hardened with substantial crystalization, cracking and some loss.  Working Air Ministry marked  zips.  The original 'Itshide' soles and heels are complete but show considerable use and the right sole is cracked.  Average soiling of the dense fur lining which is otherwise in good condition.  Complete with insoles.  Air Ministry King's crown marked zip tongues with indicated sizes of 8 and 9.  Although mismatched by size these appear to have been worn as a pair and there is little obvious difference in size.  These are genuine 1940 pattern boots, not the more commonly found 1941 pattern with the ankle strap removed.  A rare find these days.  Let down by the rubber galosh and cracked sole but priced accordingly.  Stock code B22669.
