RAF 1941 Pattern Mae West
'Life-saving Waistcoat, Stole Inflated'. Stores ref. 22c/447. Size medium. The cloth is in excellent condition bar a small nick at the back - see photo. It retains good strong colour and is generally very clean. The Mae West retains all of the leg straps, grab handles, tying tapes, buttons (one restitched), inflation lever flap, skull cap/heliograph pocket with heliograph in place, lanyard and toggle, flotation lamp pocket and fluorescene flap and strap. The only real downside is that the zip has been changed using a longer replacement than the original. Good clear Air Ministry King's crown 'flap type' label. Although marked as such, this example was never fitted with a flap but must have been produced when 'flap' type labels were being used up. In general this is a very good example showing little use.
