RAF / FAA 1941 pattern Mae West lamp

RAF / FAA 1941 pattern Mae West lamp

Code: MW21286

SOLD

By G.E.C. This is a rarer variant of the floating “torch” for the 1941 patt. Mae West. This type doesn't have a separate wooden bulb holder, the lamp being an integral part of the battery container. This cylindrical metal container has its original drab blue-grey paint finish and the bulb and red cover/lens are attached to the top. A red lens would suggest FAA use for this example. Lacks most of the paper label and the string lanyard to attach to the Mae West is absent. Previous examples have dated from 1943. The paint finish on the battery case is quite good although there is some paint chipping/loss. Battery tube/cell remains inside (worn). Stock code MW21286.
