Size 5. Classic black leather service dress shoe with a leather sole and rubber capped heels. This is a mismatched pair - each produced by a different manufacturer. The left is by Manfield & Sons Ltd. of Northampton whilst the right is by H & C. However, thery are virtually identical and it would not be obvious when displayed. They have light storage age but appear unworn/unissued. The leather is in excellent condition bar minor scuffs on exposed areas. They are a little dusty but a polish will improve the appearance further. The leather soles and heelplates are lightly soiled but are in superb unused condition. The linings have soiling through storage but again are undamaged. Each has manufacturer's details and 1944 date. Laces absent. Although technically a uniform item, many fighter pilots preferred to wear their shoes during flight as they were less bulky than boots. Extraordinarily rare to find genuine issue shoes.
