RAF issue service dress shoes

RAF issue service dress shoes

Code: B26414

SOLD

Manufactured by Grenson.  Size 10.  Classic black leather service dress shoe with a leather sole and rubber capped heels.  The uppers have light wear but are very good and polish will improve the appearance further.  The leather soles are quite worn, both have a 'Blakeys seg' at the toe, and both heelplates appear to have been replaced relatively recently.  The size and a war department broad arrow is visible on the base of each shoe.  The shoe linings have light soiling but are undamaged.  Each is marked with size, manufacturer's size details and 1945 date.  Although technically a uniform item, many fighter pilots preferred to wear their shoes during flight as they were less bulky than boots.  Very good condition and a large size.  William Green & Sons began to make shoes in Northampton in 1866.  In 1913, the company name was shortened to Grenson and in WW2 was called into action to make shoes and boots for the British and Allied Forces too.  It is extraordinarily rare to find genuine RAF issue shoes.  Stock code B26414.
