H/b, 20 x 27.2cm, 1946.  Approximately 340p.  Edited and compiled under the supervision of  Captain Gordon R. Closway, group public relations officer and published by Newsphoto Publishing Co., San Angelo, Texas.  A 'Pictorial Record of the 401st Bomb Group' which was part of the 8th AAF based in England during WW2 and comprised of the 612th, 613th, 614th and 615th bombardment squadrons operating 255 missions on B-17Gs from Station 128 (Deenethorpe, Northamptonshire).  The 401st achieved the highest bombing accuracy amongst the B-17 groups within the 8th AAF.  This unit history has both informative text and excellent photographs of the officers and men, life on and around the base etc.  It also has some interesting cameos of some of the crews and their missions.  Another very rare book from a recently purchased 8th/9th AAF collection. An original copy in very good overall condition.  Stock code P242120.
