Produced by the Consolidated Aircraft Co. this is a complete set of seven hardbacked manuals for the B-24 'Liberator' bomber. Each manual measures approximately 22 x 28cm and is marked 'Restricted'. The books cover every aspect of the aircraft in immense detail and would be of enormous help to anyone restoring any of the components from the B-24. The set measures 15cm thick and runs to over 1600 pages in total. The information, photographs, illustrations and cartoons contained withing these books is fantastic and briefly includes the following :
Manual 1: Service & Instruction Manual - Airplane General, 1942, 284p
Manual 2 : Flight Manual, September 1942, 188p
Manual 3 : Instruction Manual - Power Plant, February 1943, 203p
Manual 4 : Service & Instruction Manual - Radio, 1942, 251p
Manual 5 : Instruction Manual - Hydraulics, August 1942, 209p
Manual 6 : Instruction Manual - Electricity, October 1942, 209p
Manual 7 : Service & Instruction Manual - Armament, April 1943, 184p. Includes superb pull-out photographs of Browning machine guns etc.
Other than some fading/wear to the gold blocked titles each manual is in excellent condition, individually numbered and named to the owner. The set comes with its original purpose made leather briefcase with gold embossed 'Consolidated Vultee' logo. It is a bit worn with fairly minor damage and has a repaired/patched split along part of the base but still looks great. The original zip functions correctly and has a lockable clasp (key absent). The set comes with a letter from the Chief Technical Officer, RAF Station Nassau, certifying that Flying Officer Moore RAF is in possession of this set 'which is necessary to this officer for the execution of his duty'. Each individual manual and the leather case is listed within the letter and their unique serial numbers are recorded too.
We originally sold this item almost 20 years ago and recently re-acquired it. A superb set and a very rare opportunity to obtain a complete set of US Army Air Force B-24 bomber manuals issued to a Royal Air Force officer during WW2. Very heavy at approximately 10kg unpackaged hence rather high postage costs. Stock code P24176.
