USAAF First Aid Kit, Individual, Aircrew

Packet, First Aid, Individual Aircrew Member.  Designed for issue to each airman.  Used primarily by fighter pilots after the 'Kit, First Aid, Aeronautic' was removed from use in fighter planes during the course of the war. It contained a small dressing, wound tablets, other medications and safety pins. The contents are housed in a rectangular alunimium tin in two halves, approximately 14 x 10 x 3 cm. The tin is in good overall condition and contains two tubes of petrolium jelly for burns, iodine, compressed gauze bandage, two sachets of foot powder, band-aids, adhesive tap and gauze.  Some of these may be original but the kit is not complete.  Nevertheless, a relatively rare find.  Stock code S20147.
