Lamp Assembly, Flashlight, Floating Identification, Type A-7. Standardized in 1942, this was a waterproof black plastic floating identification light intended for use with the multi-man dinghies/life-rafts. The base containing the D-cell battery (not present) unscrews and can be pulled out to make the unit longer and more stable when floating (see photos). Shows some signs of wear and marking. No bulb fitted. Would originally have had a simple cord lanyard to attach it to the dinghy. Marked with user instructions and 1943 date code. Good used condition overall. Stock code MW21320.
