RAF B-type Flying Helmet

SOLD

Code: H16250

By Frank Bryan. Size 1 (6 1/2 - 6, 3/4). 1938 dated. The overall appearance is very good. The leather is supple with excellent original finish. That said, the triangular left-side forehead panel appears to be an extremely well executed replacement. The colour match is very good and it is barely discernable. There has been no alteration to the lining as a result of this. Small slit hole adjacent to one of the oxygen mask studs (see photo 10). Both zipped earpieces are equally good, one have quite clear reference markings. The zips on both are in good working order c/w leather puller tags. Both bakelite receiver carriers are still in position (one has a section of the ring missing) and the earpieces retain a pair of original sponge cushions - one excellent RCAF, the other a crusty Air Ministry example. The chinstrap is good and c/w metal end tip. The Bennett buckle retains its leather covering. Good rear strap and although worn, the rear Bennett buckle has its leather covering too. The chamois lining is quite clean with less than average soiling. There is a small hole to one inner 'donut' cushion. Complete with 1938 dated Air Ministry label & A.I.D stamp. Unwired. Wiring, receivers, microphones and jackplugs can be supplied at extra cost if required. Overall this is a very good used helmet. Stock code H16250.
