USAAF 'Issued' Matchcase / Compass

By Dupage. Approx. 8 x 3cm. Brown bakelite container with a screw-off lid which houses a small compass that can be viewed from the top or side viewing 'window'. The base is marked 'Dupage' and has a ribbed finish for use as a match striker. Would have had another striker strip in the side to produce sparks by rubbing with a knife or metal object (see photos).

The plastic compass lens/windows have turned opaque, otherwise this is in good used condition. Empty. Used in various AAF survival kits, the C-1 vest etc. Stock code M16268.
