USAAF / USAF Dinghy Pump

Large cylindrical pump with metal end plates and 'T' shaped plunger handle. Approx.28cm long (excluding hose) and 9cm diameter. With heavy duty rubber hose having screw-threaded cadmium plated metal connectors. The pump could be used for inflation and deflation of the dinghy dependant on where the hose was attached. Used for testing inspections and possibly included with the larger dinghy packs. This example is in excellent condition throughout and comes with a yellow cotton container marked 'PUMP USAAF'.

This particular pump was used in the film production 'Adrift - 47 Days With Sharks!' - the true story of two AAF airman (Louis Zamperini & Russell Phillips) who crashed into the pacific ocean in May 1943. They survived for 47 days adrift in a survival dinghy encountering thousands of miles of open ocean, sharks, thirst, hunger, strafing enemy aircraft and eventually capture by the Japanese Navy. Filming took place off the coast of Malta during May/June of 2012. Stock code S18245.
