RN / FAA C-type Flying Helmet - Early Patt.

SOLD

Code: H18600

Size 2 (67/8-7). Extremely rare early pattern zip-eared C-type.  The leather is generally in excellent condition - clean, very supple and undamaged.  Fitted with 4 goggle straps in good condition and with 99% of the original press stud coatings remaining. light deposits of soft, easily removeable verdigris on the rear buckle.  Very good chinstrap complete with metal end tip and the Bennett buckle retains all of the leather covering. The zip-ear pieces appear to be in very good condition with working zips c/w leather pull tags. Close inspection reveals a cut in the rearside of the left earpiece.  This has been repaired with a glued patch internally leaving the damage largely indiscernable.  The rubber receiver carriers are in place with the familiar 'Gosport' tube attachments.   The lining is a little crumpled but remains very clean and undamaged.  Clear  FAA Crown/Anchor stamp on the outerside of the chintab.   Sold unwired and without receivers.  A very good example of a very rare helmet variant. Stock code H18600.
