RAF 1941 Pattern Mae West

SOLD

Code: MW19609

'Life-saving Waistcoat, Stole Inflated'.  Stores ref. 22c/448.  Size large. The cloth retains quite good colour but is grubby.  Unfortunately it has damage and holes close to the inflation lever flap and right grab handle and small 'puncture wounds' to the rear - see photos.    The Mae West retains the leg straps, grab handles and lifeline and toggle.  The tying tapes are present but the lower right is frayed and tatty. Only one of the three buttons remain and the press-stud fastener for the skull cap/heliograph pocket has separated.  The flotation lamp pocket has some damage and the flapped cover is missing.  The fluorescene flap and strap are also missing. The Mae West retains the original Air Ministry marked zip which is a little corroded but in full working condition.    Labelled  with War Department broad arrow markings. Stencilled 'US' on the heliograph pocket and marked with a 'W' on the left breast.  The name 'Scotty' and '127' is inked inside the back.  A rather tired tatty example but could be improved and would make a reasonable display piece.  .  Stock code MW19609.
