Instructional Course Handbook for  the Lancaster Aircraft, AVRO Type '683' Mk. 1., II, III & X.  Published by A.V. Roe & Co. Ltd, Manchester, January 1944.  Card cover, 15 x 22 cm.  Approx. 64p plus around 20 pullout diagrams/charts at the back (equipment arrangement, rigging instructions, controls, hydraulics, fuel system, oil systems, turret hydraulics, electrical & oxygen systems, jacking points etc.)   Intended to provide a short instructional course for squadron personnel on the operation and maintenance of Lancaster aircraft and covers such things as the fuselage, hydraulics, engine controls, gun turret hydraulics, electrical systems, wireless equipment, vacuum system, cabin heating, bomb gear, engine instruments, handling on the ground etc.  Marked 'Confidential' and for use of recipient only under the official secrets act.  Each copy of this book has an individual reference/issue number (3124).   The cover is faded, soiled and dog-eared around the edges.  The pages are generally good but a few of the pullout diagrams have tears on the folds and need folding more carefully but otherwise this in good used condition.  Named to a Sergeant Gregson of 622 Squadron, Mildenhall, Suffolk and issued to him in February 1944.   The inner page also has an embossed stampe just visible '...... Mess, Royal Air Force, Bassingbourn, Herts.'.  Stock code P19990.
